Our Downtown Taproom neighbors over at Guru Donuts gave us bags full of maple bars to have some fun with. We loaded them into the mash tun with Mecca Grade Estate Malt to create our newest batch of imperial stout. We also added a dash of milk sugar and vanilla to emulate the creamy sweetness of maple bars. The beer was then aged in freshly poured Bourbon barrels and finished with extra maple syrup at the end.

Draft at Barbarian. Black pour, ring of beige head, partial filmy layer. Sweet aroma, chocolate and maple. Taste comes in strong, boozy, sweet, brown sugar, maple. Pretty high octane. Slow sipper

On Tap at the downtown taproom Big thick dark brown hear black pour. Just a few tan bubbles. Definitely maple and light roast with chocolate and sweet dark malts. Some boozy notes, as this one is 10% ABV Pretty sweet but nice sweet dark malt flavors. Pretty much nails the claimed “Maple Bar” moniker.

On tap at the brewery pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is cool a maple bar for sure chocolate plenty sweetness. Taste is more of the nice sweet maple bar notes chocolate roast malts. Nice work on this one.

On Tap at the downtown taproom Murky very dark brown with a fine tan head and lots of thick blankets of lacing. Rich smooth maple and woody booozy sweetness. Delicious and just a few IBUs in there. Vanilla, oak barrels. All blended together nicely. terrific

Taster at Barbarian. Dark brown, thick pour. Sweet aroma of maple. Taste comes in with a nice toasty, sweet stout under the maple flavors, pretty good pastry beer.
