12 oz can courtesy of Buckeyboy-thanks. Pours a very dark, almost black, brownish with a medium foamy khaki head. The aroma is soft with roasted malts. The taste is more roasted malts, with a bitter component I can't quite put my finger on--perhaps its the cascade hops. The palate was a bit thinner than I would prefer. Overall: Better than many black IPA's--paired very well with some French Mimolette cheese

Grunt fill from Fred Meyer. Pours out a dark brown, small foamy light brown head. Aroma is mostly roast grains. Tadte too is roasty, not much of the rye as in the American styles, but very close to a German roggenbier. Deep and roasty, with appropriate bitterness for a roggenbier or schwarzbier. Would like see the brewers intent on this, would change my rating.

On tap pours out a brown topped with a sand head. Nose is light roast some pine citrus hops and the malts. Tatse is more of the nice grain light hops.

Murky dark brown, thick sticky tan head and lacing. Smooth medium roast and lots of piney hop bitterness and flavors. Nice balance of the hop and roast. Full unfiltered feel. Good
