Brown with a tall, foamy white head. Aroma is fairly traditional for the style: banana, bubblegum, toffee. Slightly grainy undertones. Taste is yeasty sweet up front, dry with a mild bitterness on the backside. Body is to the light side of medium, texture watery. Solid dunkelweizen, despite the watery notes.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 10B). Bottle 50 cl - Batch L12374 (BBF 12.10.19). AROMA: medium banana and bubblegum notes, with a mild wheaty and malty-rich background. APPEARANCE: amber color and clear. medium-large beige head, creamy, with good retention. TASTE: medium wheat flavor, followed by medium-low banana, slight bubblegum, and a malty rich background. low bitterness with an almost dry finish. PALATE: medium body and creamy. medium to medium-high carbonation. OVERALL: an average dunkles weiss not much complex when compared with other examples.

Sweet, sugary aroma with chewing gum. Sweetish, sugary flavor with banana, orange and caramel. Onedimensional, too sweet dunkel weizen.

Tight creamy off white head left a good cover & collar on a murky light oak coloured still body. Slightly vinous aroma with caramel, dark sugar & berry. Medium bodied, finely carbonated over the tongue with a sticky back. Orange, treacle, demerara, spices, zest & banana tastes with a fruity finish.

Bottle @ Alter Fritz, Nürnberg. Pours cloudy copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, banana and yeast, with touches of caramel. Sweetish flavour of the same ingredients, with mild bitter touches of hops and sourish, grainy touches. Estery and acidic aftertaste. Decent, but I prefer the helles version.

Auch beim dunklen Weizen macht Gutmann einen tollen Job (auch wenn das Weltklasse helle Weizen nicht ganz erreicht wird). Weich, rund, sehr viel Hefe, gute Substanz, angenehme Röstmalznote, leicht fettig. Sehr lecker.

Bottle from an Edeka, Rothenburg. Pours hazy reddish amber with a big, lasting, foamy, off-white head; some lacing. Aroma of dry & candied banana, apple cake, plum, toast, cinnamon, wheat, honey & clove. Medium malty sweet onset, hints of cake, plum & apple; sourish wheat note introduces a light spicy, clove- & cinnamon-like bitter middle with a yeasty accent. Dryish, herbal & grassy hoppy finish, lingering plum, clove, bread & yeast. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Very nice, elegant Dunkelweizen.
