Crazy Navel is a blend of sour rye, blond, triple and quad ales aged in oak foudres, wine and Westward Whiskey barrels for up to 18 months. We added fresh zest from Navel, Cara Cara and Valencia oranges, as well as some fresh Mandarin and dried Spanish orange peel to craft a real ode to one of our favorite citruses.

On tap at PIB 2017, pours a hazy bronze with a small white head. Aroma brings out dark dried fruits and wine barrels. Flavour is quite tart, with tart red fruits, vinous notes, and light acidity. Not particularly complex or deep, with an acidic, red fruity finish. Decent.

Sample at the Barrel House. The beer is a hazy reddish-orange color with a thin white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with a tart citrusy character and flavors of vine fruit, yeast and malt. The finish is tart with a citrus and apricot aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
