In the spring of 1980, a bearded, long haired, ragtag work crew known as the Gypsy Stumpers were hired to clear the stumps out of the newly formed runs on Hood River Meadows. Camped at lift tower 10 on HRM, they worked long hours falling trees six feet in diameter, but only three feet tall. Much like the stumpers, this beer works twice as hard for your riding pleasure. Tangerine and herbal flower notes make their way through the resinous, pine forest nose. Its sturdy body holds the weight of the vigorous hopping, resulting in an assertive balance.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Medium amber with huge fluffy head.Aroma is more malts than hops, kind of dusty. Taste leads with dry malts, mild astringent hops, woody, musty. English notes abound more ale, than IPA.

On Tap hazy golden wth a off white head and lacing. Big up front citrus pithy aromas. Lemon, grapefruit and tangerine. Flavors are not as appeasing. Some o that citrus bite but more of a light thin chemically flavor. Well attenuated for a quite dry finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods, thanks Eddan. Dark orange with a white head. Hoppy with grass, malt and some caramel. Not that much fruit in this one.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours hazy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out citrusy and resinous hops. Flavour is very well-balanced, with big grapefruity and resinous hops, and just enough caramel malt backing to provide a solid palate. Finishes with a nice bitterness. Very good IPA.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy shining amber color with compact head. The hop aroma is a bit animal, and less resiny and fruity, doesn’t seem fresh. Lean pale malt flavor, simple but at least correct for a modern IPA; the hopping has an animal/earthy character, although not too sharp, then a bit of resins and oranges too; balanced bitterness.
Nice beer, not bright though.

500 mL bottle poured. Pours a dark orange color with a bubbly head. Love the artwork on this bottle by the way. Very nice. Soft aroma with some caramel sweet malt. Flavor is some semi sweet caramel malt up front, and a little bready. Slightly bitter hop finish. A little orange flavor late as well. Very tasty overall. Enjoyed this one.
