It is best enjoyed as, or with dessert, and shared with someone you think deserves it. This beer was created November 5th 2007. We recommend that you let it mature until fall 2009. It is best consumed before end of 2020.

500ml Bottle (Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen) - Black in colour. Rich and vinous aroma wih plain chocolate and coffee. Rich taste with roasted malt, coffee and plain chocolate. Very rich and full-bodied.

Thin light-brown head quickly dissipates into a dark vortex. Complex nose and taste of burnt raisins, smoked wood, caramel coffee, grain alcohol, cereals and earthy goodness.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a quite large dark brown color head with good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma of raisins with sweet rich malt with subtle lactose notes as well. Taste is also a nice mix between some deep sweet rich notes with a nice creamy texture and some dominant dry raisins notes reminiscent of a dark Belgian ale. Body is quite full with a somewhat oily texture but creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Well done overall though a bit too much to have on a regular basis.

500 ml bottle from Largiari. I don’t need to share this with Odeed as he doesn’t like it. Nose of strong ethanol mixed with chocolate and a hint of licorice but the EtOH overpowers the rest of the aromas. Black with a one finger cinnamon tan head, no lacing. Flavor has coffee, a smoky note, chocolate, light bitterness, and alcohol. Finish is strong alcohol that stays on my tongue for at least a minute. Might be good at 11% ABV.

Bottle. Ruby-black beer with a brown head. Alcohol, chocolate, and light roast aroma. Rich toffee malt flavor with earth, dark fruit, and licorice. Fuller bodied. Rich toffee lingers with earth and light roast. Alcohol noticeable - a bit too much so.

Sampled Feb 2010, just couldn’t wait any longer! Showed reddish brown in the pour but sits in the glass an opaque black with reddish tints. Developed a foamy brown head but it faded fast with an audible hiss, like a glass of cola. Nose with full of burnt malt, caramel, acrid burnt things, alcohol, asphalt, charred meat. Flavor starts with a sweet hot caramel-alcohol, gives way to a fairly astringent and drying finish, with a mineral quality, a touch hot, peppery, with quite a lingering booziness swirling over the palate and into the sinus. The after-after taste is mineral, acrid, bitter, and quite a bit unpleasant.

A mere shadow of the 1st Edition, which was one of the finest imperial stouts ever produced. This beer is merely, good. Heavily roasted malt in the flavor and aroma. Thinner palate than the first, and maybe a touch more carbonation. All malt, with grain. Just a little chocolate, but overall lacking complexity. The high abv is well hidden. Thick, lightly sweet finish. Thanks to BDR for sharing. For as expensive as it is, rather disappointing.

At a tasting, many thanks Zvikar, almost no head, black and completly opaque, aroma of light roasted coffee, woodiness, roots, mushrooms and a hint of dark fruit, flavours of roasted malt, earthiness and dried fruits. big bodied, finish is a touch dry. Good.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Zvika! 17.5% ABV. Opaque black-colored beer with a small, quickly-diminishing, brown head. Aroma of coffee and lots of alcohol. Strong alcoholic flavor with dark fruits, coffee, chocolate and roastiness. Too much alcohol.
