Sample at Bishops Arms, Folkungagatan in June 09. Black with a thin brownish head. Aroma was really lovely, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, licorice. The flavor contained a lot of coffee, some chocolate and dark berries. Also some salt and a little licorice. Full-bodied, liquid was quite dry. The high alcohol content was there but it was never uncomfortable. Aftertaste felt long.

1 pint 0.9 fl oz bottle, laid down one year. Blackest of black with a large but rapidly disappearing dark maroon head. Aroma of alcohol, cocoa and turpentine. Taste begins with milk chocolate, progresses through raisins to tannin, then finishes with a tingly roasted cafe au lait. Worth the wait.

Bottle - thanks biggcb. Dark brown, near black pour with a finger of brown head. Heavy roast and cocoa, coffee, and charred wood. Flavor is again heavy in roast with molasses, espresso, chocolate, and more charred wood. The high abv comes through in the end, despite a rich roastiness throughout. Wow, this is intense. I wish I had the patience to age a bottle for 10 years or so... I’m just proud of myself to have enough patience to take 2 1/2 hours to drink it!

Bottled. Pitch black, short head. Aroma of big roasted malt, chocolat, coffee. Bitter and malty taste. Quite alcoholic again. I dont see much difference with the 1st edition tbh.

Big thanks to kiefdog for not only hosting this tasting but opening the gem. Said gem pours deep void darkness with thin dark brown head. The aroma is full of caramel, dark roastiness, burnt molasses and booze. The taste seems pretty thin bringing notes of chocolate, caramel, burnt molasses and a tongue tingling booziness. It ends with some mild heat and lingering near velvety chocolate and fading dark roastiness. Drinking last 50cl of this on this day: 20210907. The aroma offers up odd licorice, a bit of oxidation, booze and toffee. The taste is 'on point' with seductive slippery smooth sweetened dark roasted to burnt malts giving way to a wave of booze and toffee goodness. There's hardly any sense of this beer's advanced age in the flavor. This is -money-. Old 2009 rating 7-4-8-3-16, 3.8. Today's re-rate: 8-4-9-4-18, 4.3.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt combined with notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and alcohol, which leaves a burn in the mouth. The body is thick.

Bottle. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma iscoffee, chocolate, alcohol. Flavour is dry, fruit, hop, dried fruit, coffee, chocolate, alcohol. Full mouthful. Warming and very nice beer.
