12 ounce can thanks to Santa. Pours a ruby hue with a medium off white head. A big malty smoky nose. Rich, clear smoked malts, sweet berries, toast. Very flavorful. Good brew. Hefty.

Can. Clear dark amber, off-white head. Caramel malt, maybe some faint peat notes, agree, that this might be closer to a brown ale than a scotch ale.

22oz bottle picked up at Costco in Boise
Pours clear dark brown with a small beige head, some lacing. Aroma of ham, ashy, leather and caramel. Flavor of toasted malts, ham, smokey, mild salty

On tap at the garden city brewery. Rich dark chocolate brown. Dense creamy tan head. Earthy mild chocolate malt flavors. A touch of roast and coffee and old leather. I dont get much if any of the distinctive peaty scotch qualities. I would have called this a smooth rich brown ale.

Draft at Squawkyfest. Average scotch ale, borwn body with small, thin head. Normal peaty, earthy characters, taste just average. About what you’d expect for the style.
