Bottle from the brewery. Dark, muddy brown, lightly hopped. Malt at the forefront reminiscent of a doppelbock. Not bad, but not your typical cascadian dark ale. Some might dry bitterness at the finish.

Bomber from Malt and Vine. Pours opaque brown with a creamy dark beige head. Aroma is chocolate with a little citrus/pine backdrop. Near full bodied, at least until the carb leaves. The flavor is dark roast malt, chocolate, earth, and arguably citrus/pine. There’s a very light hop burn, but the hop flavors are submerged in the malt parts. Well balanced. Neither sweet nor dry exactly. With time some citrus/pine aspects become clearer - must be mouth buildup. Good ale, but not amazingly good.

On tap. Near black pour with a minimal tan head. Aromas are of brown sugar, cocoa, floral hops, pine and some minerals. Resiny, low esters. Too much malt and probably a touch faded on the hop profile. Flavors are pine, molasses, coffee, brown sugar, medium sweet yet strongly bitter. Not my sort of Black IPA. Thin yet sweet, medium carbonation with a resiny finish.
