Inspired by the tried and true Vortex IPA, but bigger, hoppier and just as balanced as the Vortex that Fort George drinkers have been keen to since the brewery was almost scattered in a corn field. The brewers at Fort George were making A LOT of Vortex, but just felt like it needed more umph. After a rather strong early batch of Vortex in the pub, the regulars agreed, but this was not for the full pint. This beer is not for everyone, but surely hoppy and big enough for many in the Pacific Northwest. Heavily hopped with Summit and Cascade hops, check out OMEGATEX.

Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland
Cloudy light amber color. Nice aroma, malty, fruity and flowery. The mouthfeel is rather dry for an IIPA, the malt is a bit biscuity but not too impressive; strong hopping, resiny and pungent, not as fruity as one would like to have; strong bitterness.
Very good beer, but it tastes as if it’s not too fresh.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Pours out orange amber, with minimal beige head. Normal IPA aroma, taste within range, warmth comes in very late. Hides ABV well. Tasty, not overpowering, pretty good for a big beer.

Bottle shared at a tasting, 10/6/14. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of candied citrus, citrus, mild tropical hop notes, mild caramel malt. The taste is bitter tropical, resin hops, caramel malt. Medium bodied, moderate lingering bitterness.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a hazy golden topped with a long lasting sand head. Nose is caramel sweetness pine nice hoppy juice rich malt. Taste is as the nose with lots of malty sweetness thick rich hop resin and a nice finish

On tap at Saraveza's 4th IIPA fest, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of brings out loads of cat piss, citrus hops, and some dank herbal hops. Flavour is very pungent, with loads of bitter pine, a touch of citrus, some earthy notes and more piney hops. Just enough malt to round things out. Finishes very bitter and piney hoppy. An excellent IIPA.
