Bottle from John’s. Pours a dark chocolate color with a large beige head. A light nose of leather, rye and chocolates. The flavor is a split between sweet milky coffee and even caramel and big spicy rye. Certainly not a heavy roast or sweeter stout elements, but this is really a good beer. Very dry at times, leather, some smoke. Almost lager-ish. The rye is the backbone here. Nice!

Black and smooth, and without the heavy bready/sourness usually found in rye beers. Black with tiny beige head, nice roast grain bitterness, Really surprising and really good.

On tap at the Brewery. In a snifter, black with a fine and lasting tan head. Soft roasty aroma and flavors. Not much Rye-ness and moderate bitterness.
