It is love at first sight with this frothy head. It is soft and white, with lots of fine pores, and does not disappear while you are drinking. Pale gold underneath. Attractive, even cloudiness, yet also radiant. The bouquet radiates floral-grassy cheer with memories of lemongrass and orange, a mild bread note and a discrete sponge note. The first taste is mild and soft, yet also tangy. The Winkler Hefe Pils feels good on the tongue. A cultivated bitterness quickly spreads around the mouth and seems to expand as required. Lemongrass is present again, followed by ripe, yellow grapefruit. Original wort: 11,6º.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a dense, small, off-white head. Quite grainy nose, some fruityness and a touch of grassy hops. The flavor has grains, bitterness and some fruityness, at first rather boring, but it turns out to be quite pleasant. Dry, medium bodied and pleasantly carbonated. Overall, a quite nice one, refreshing and quenching. 110415

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Flowery hops in the nose with a little yeastiness. Medium body, sweet malts and fresh and flowery hops with a little perfumy touch. And then come the bittering hops. 150411

(33cl bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with a big foamy white head. Fresh herbal and citrus-fruity hoppy nose with a moderate malty sweetness and light yeasty notes in the background. Bitter flavour, light bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel. Malty and slightly yeasty taste with spicy and floral hoppy notes; dry and lasting bitter finish with an aromatic hops character. A very pleasant Zwickel-Pils (27.08.08).

On tap (Klosterbräu, Bergen bei Neuburg/Donau): Pale golden, lazy carbonation, small, white stable lacy head; sweet-malty, a bit grainy nose with a very distinctive floral hoppiness and a certain fruitiness; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; distinctive, quite dry bitter-hoppy finish. Very well crafted, spicy Pils..............
