12oz bottle pours a murky, deep amber with some soapy, off white head. Nose is very herbal, plenty of tarragon, a little lavender, some herbal tea, some fruit cake, some raisin. Flavor is a little better, the sweetness smooths out the herbaceousness, still some tarragon, a little licorice, some sumac, a little clove. Tannic finish.

Bottle. A clear looking dark reddish brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma is on the chocolate side, with mocha, licorice and a faint spiced touch. Some dark coffee. Roasted, chocolate-ish flavor with some licorice and spices. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Quite dry, with roasted malts towards the mocca-ish finish. Could use some body this one, but it’s a decent one anyway. Rating: 6-4-6-4-15. 141228

Had one again today, it looks much the same, and the mouthfeel is pretty identical from what I remember, but it’s a more complex and tasteful beer than it was eight months ago. Score adjusted slightly. 150818

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Subtle aroma of sweet roast, a whiff of coffee perhaps. Medium body, again sweet roast but the spice bill comes out rather unfortunate, like lavender and cheap hand soap. Otherwise easy drinking. 221214

33cl bottle from Meny, Oslo City. Pours close to black with a decent beige head. Fairly spicy aroma with dark malt, Christmas spices, caramel and hints of dark chocolate and herbs. Sweet and Chrismassy with flavour almost as chocolate covered ginger bread. A bit to much on the sweet and spicy side for me, but quite balanced and easy to drink. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kringly Kris Norwegian Juleporter on 21 Dec 2014 at 20:18 - Score: 6

33cl bottle from K-market Tammisto. Pours cola brown, lasting off white head. Interesting aroma: julmust, cocoa, mild sweet spicy notes, probably cinnamon. Flavor has ripe apples, milky sweetness, chocolate, cinnamon and hint of coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Dries out in the finish. Thin. really pleasant, different porter.
