Over 60% wheat and Bavarian yeast, this soft and creamy beer is bang on the money. Its Fruity, malty with some spicy notes.

From bottle (Dec ’11)- pours an amber colour and fairly clear for a wheat beer with some hazing. Minimal head, what there was vanished in the first minute and almost no lacing as I drank. Smells of citrus, toffee, yeast. Tastes of banana and cloves, slight strains of toffee and citrus, more orange than lemon. Maybe a little too carbonated for my liking but not so much as to ruin the experience.

Lovely looking brown bottle,330ml, best before 23rd Jan 2010, drank 6th Nov 2009. Poured into a Corsendonk badged, stemmed tulip glass. A small amount of sediment sat within the glass, but the beer was almost crystal clear, golden and lively. A white head left before it could settle, leaving a wisp and collar. The aroma was of yeast and peaches, not the normal banana and vanilla smells associated with this style. Nothing wrong with that, except the label claimed banana, cloves and toffee smells. Wheat flavoured in the taste, fairly dry for the style, yeasty too. Not overly impressed I’m afraid, the 5% ABV is evident, but it doesn’t do anything to add any substance to the beer.

330 ml bottle, as Meantime Wheat, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 5.0%. Cloudy golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Spicy aroma, notes of cloves and dust, hints of banana. Citrussy / lemony flavour, bordering on "sour", just a hint of cloves. No detectable hops. Sorry, but the Germans do this better.

Draft at the Defectors Weld. It pours hazy orange-amber, with a thick fluffy white head and fine carbonation. The nose is wheat, banana, spice and hay. The taste is wheat, spice (clove?), hay, banana and orange and white bread. It is quite full-bodied and filling. Decent enough.

0.33l bottle that pours a heavy clouded orange body with a red hue and a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is wheaty with notes of yeast, orange and something that reminds me of wet cardboard. Average to lively carbonation, kinda watery on the mouthfeeling and medium to light-bodied. Flavors are wheaty with notes of yeast, oranges, hay and it ends really watery with a malty aftertaste.

33cl bottle. Pours an orange-yellow colour with some head which disappears very quickly - this is almost unheard of for a Weiss beer. I’m searching for the telltale notes of banana, toffee, etc, but they are so faint and I really wouldn’t have found any if I hadn’t been specifically looking for it. The taste is better - some vanilla custard and bananas which are still however, somewhat dominated by the malt profile. The palate has medium structure, a creamy texture and a fairly clean on the end - but it should be fizzier! Overall, the Germans don’t have to worry about this one as competition.

330mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours cloudy orangey yellow with almost no head. Aroma of citrus, banana, wheat, clove and orange peel. Flavour is too dominated by citrus for a German hefe, with the banana, wheat and orange peel taking a backseat role. Palate is acidic and again, overwhelmed by the citrus. Not a good example of the style

Cloudy, pale orange colour very much in the ’hefe’ style. Aromas of orange peel. Flavour has a light smokiness.
