Cloudy golden body. White foamy head with a rapid retreat. Nice lacework. Weissen aromas of clove and banana. Sweet taste of lightly spiced, citric fruits, yeast and wheat. Ordinary. Bottle 0,33l from Sainsburys Victoria. Hotel room, 3 Oct 10.

Bottle: Hazy to cloudy, extremely gushing, big fluffy - very quickly collapsing - loose "dirty" white head; the wheaty nose is dominated by turpentine-like yeast, distinctive fruitiness (apricots, peaches) underneath; moderate sweet sour flavour, light to medium bodied; slight hoppy traces in the sweet-sour finish. Not bad for a Weizen from London.....

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, the only interesting one from an ever diminishing shit selection of beer, well, it’s crap in my local Lee Green store anyway. They’ve even moved the specialist ’gluten free’ beer from the specialist selection and put it in the ale rack. Fuckin’ insult. Anyway, enough of my ire. This beer pours a straw colour with a white head. Banana and toffee dominate the nose and as the helpful label states I can definitely detect some cloves in there too. Banana, caramel and a little cinnamon invade the taste buds. Light spice finish. Expected a little more from this one but ended up disappointed. Fits in nicely with Sainsbury’s appalling beer selection .

Foggy yellow, barely any head. Aroma of hops and some corn. Taste is very sweet, lots of hops, some coriander, not much wheat. Cloying feel on the mouth. A poor imitation of a wheat beer.

(bottle, 33cl; Meantime Wheat, 5,0% abv) Hazy, slightly orange to golden colour with a collapsing frothy white head. Wheat-malty aroma with notes of ripe bananas and a tinge of vanilla. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Pronounced wheaty taste with a whiff of cara-malt and notes of bananas and lighter clovy spice; moderately dry, sweet and slightly citric finish. 06.VIII.10

From tap at Market Porter. Pours hazy orange with a fully gone head. Aroma is solid estery fruity with alight wheaty note. Sweet wheaty flavoured. Light acidic and orange fruity touch. Dry phenolic flavoured finish. Classic and simple, not my thing.

bottle from Asda Brynmawr-Ebbw Vale. Cloudy pale yellow, large white head. Wheaty-yeasty nose. Malty, wheaty and yeasty with some shy but pleasant fruity flavours (banana, mainly). A pleasant Hefeweizen.
