Sample at CBC 2015. Clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of some alcohol, malt, oak, red berries and dried fruit. Similar taste. The finish was sweet and dry.

Chestnut coloured beer, beneath a medium to good dirty-cream coloured head, leaving dirty lace patches. Sourish, sugar- or maltsyrup, wood, alcohol & fusels; also a bit soapy. Bit of a medley. Light malty sweetness, overlaid by a dry bitterness, a bit nutty in character, walnutpeel-like. Palate has a lot of alcohol, but I wouldn’t hazard sherry. Wood is still there, even some tannines. Aftertaste suggests oxydation, comparable to the nuttiness - or the solara? Thinnish by the evaporation, but still oily-slick. Long wry bitterness. Far from bad.

bottle from ølkbutikken. amber color, light brown head. very clear, looks really good. boozy malty and woody aroma, notes of wood barrelled fruit booze, aroma is in fact really nice, although the alc. is stinging a bit.aroma is as if the alc% was higher than 10. flavor is thin malty, quite a lot of fruit and berry peel. it doesn’t really work out like a solid barley wine, appears thin on the malty side, then strong reg. alc. and then the fruits on top, i would prefer a more malty base to balance the alc and the fruits.

12th June 2014 Tasting at Bruce’s pad. 3rd time lucky with this jonah brew! Hazy deep amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crisp. Rich woody nose. Caramel malts, some wood. Marmalade, bitterish. Light sherry and malt cream. Light finish. Rich and tasty but might improve with some time.
3rd October 2020
After 6.5 years this has mellowed out - not much at all! The marmalade is a little more pronounced perhaps, but otherwise this tastes exactly as I wrote back in 2014.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Kenny Kenny, 12/06/14. Chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is toffee, spice, lgiht booze, sugars, sherry tones, dark fruit peel. Taste comprises light mineral notes, earthy, toffee, booze, grain, herbal, hint of liqourice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok barley wine.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Tenacious Kenny. Pours clear amber with a creamy, tan head. The nose has a bit of wood, old berries, pine, caramel. Medium sweet flavor, a bit metallic, more caramel, earth, leather. Full bodied with with fine, creamy carbonation. Warm finish with bitter leaves, pine, wood, gooey and sugary berries, bread, some toasted caramel, herbs, cedar. So so.
