Bottle @ home. Pitch brown/black, opaque colour with little to no head (beige). Smells like the tactical nuclear pinguin, caramel, round, very sweet, siruppy, wood, cognac, almonds. Tastes coffee, sweet, roasty, round, oak, caramel, raisins and deep. Complex beer with lots of great tastes. Full body, low carbo.

Sampled @ SBWF on September 29. Pours amber with no head. Very viscous. Smell is sweet and malty with a smoked feel to it. Reminds me of the smell of an Islay Whisky. Taste is very sweet and sticky with honey, oak, peat and some smoke. Aftertaste is rather dry and pleasant. Very intense and nice but perhaps a bit too sweet.

(Bottle, 0.25 l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured really deep dark brown and almost clear. Its head was minusculous and it had light brown shading. Aroma had vanilla, mildly roastedness and noticeable amount of alcohol. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, roastedness, vineousness, mildly ash and low carbonation. Aftertaste was vineous. The barrel aging was clearly present in this beer but it was not disturbing. I found it actually quite pleasant - especially the aroma.

Very good, even, dark-beige head over darkbrown beer with reddish highlights. Alcohol, rum, Bourbon, wood, dark fruit as plums, vanilla. Woody flavours, backed up by aged alcohol & vanilla touches. Wry fruit, fusels, complex. Less well-bodied than expected; alcoholburning, but discreet. Certainly a good, reasonably complex beer, but somewhere, one feels entitled to expect just a tad more for this kind.

Bottled at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Dark brown, no head. Sweet and oaky, full bodied. oaky an oily, potent and warming with massive malt backbone and somewhat resiny growing bitterness. A solid effort.
