Taste true liquid luxury in this decadent and nuanced Belgian-style quad. Pear and apricot aromas blend with caramel, fruit and spice flavors in the full-bodied amber ale.

Warming alcohol notes mix with a lot of fruity fermentation profile on the nose. Big and bold, this beer is a boozy, savory treat. Rich caramel, clove, banana warming.

750 mL bottle. Pours a coppery light amber with many fine particles and an off-white head. Caramely aroma, sweet cotton candy and fruit. Flavor has some caramel mixing with green raisin/grape and a touch of earthiness, some alcohol edge. It’s tasty.

Bottle, 2012. Pours hazy golden, small white head. Barleywine like aroma, lots of malts, dark fruits, some bourbon notes as well. Flavor is medium sweet, very muted spices, a bit of Belgian yeast esters, but still more of a barleywine than a Belgian beer to my palate. Tastes barrel aged interestingly enough. Medium body,

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 3/13/2014. Pours slightly cloudy orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, black pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, black pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, black pepper, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance, robustness, and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible quadrupel style! All around awesome complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Medium kullsyre

(Bottle, 0.75 l, bottled May 2013, from Systembolaget, 20140315) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, sweetness and yeast. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts, molasses, wort and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. The beer left an unfinished and harsh feeling.

750mL bottle bottled on 12/20/2010. Aroma is fairly fruity with quite a bit of raisins, figs and stone fruit. Medium light caramel and lightly toasted bread. Moderate honey notes. Hints of toffee. Pours a somewhat cloudy, amber-copper with a slightly orange hue. Small, thin, light tan head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with quite a bit of fruit character - raisin, fig and stone fruit. Stronger malt character than in the aroma. Malt notes of caramel, lightly toasted bread and toffee. Lesser honey notes than in the aroma. Medium low bitterness and alcohol spice. Lingering fruit notes, toasted bread and honey. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty mediocre beer. It has a ton of sweetness and the fruit character is too strong and malt presence too light. Hop character has disappeared, but I question whether it would help the beer.
