750 ml from John’s Market Place. Nose of toffee, candi sugar, light cloves, and yeast. Clear rust with a big galss lacing beige head. Falvor is Flavor is quite spicy (cloves and corriander) with some light bitterness, toffee sweetness, and background fruitiness. Finishes with spicy light alcohol warmth. Pretty damn good for an $8.99 750ml bottle!

Aroma: Sweet, dark fruits, some light bread, maltiness, a little brown sugar
Appearance: Orange, amber color, some carbonation, medium off-white head that dissipates quickly
Flavor: Nice sugary sweetness, some decent spice, malts
Palate: Very decent mouthfeel, nice flavor, enjoyably drinkable beer
Overall Impression: I like this one, it's got nice Belgian qualities to it, a very enjoyable beer.

Crowler from the brewery. I had this when it first came out years ago in the 750ml bottle, but that was before I rated. I'm not really wild about the aroma, some oxidized woody cognac. The flavor is big, and really captures the essence of the style. Deep red fruit, brown sugar, caramel. Doesn't have the body of a Belgian, but still has a good mouthfeel. Pleasant alcohol warmth throughout. Classic.

On tap at Mekong for the 15th Anniversary Party on 08/19/2010. Clear copper amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet citrus and caramel aroma. Sweet citrus and caramel flavor with belgian spice. Medium body with moderate carbonation. 7/3/7/3/15 - 3.5 Bottle from 03/29/2005 consumed on 07/04/2008. Somewhat hazy amber body with a large frothy tan head. Heavy caramel and rum soaked fruit aroma. More caramel, rum soaked fruit, molassas, raisins, with a bit of bitterness in the end. Full body with moderate carbonation. 7/4/8/3/16 - 3.8

Bottle Pours out a copper orange topped with a nice white head. Aroma of yeast, sweet fruit and a touch of hops. A very tasty brew more of the yeast and fruit tast. Along with the nice tast this brew has a very nice mouth full.

Sampled at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore. Pours a cloudy, rosy yellow with a cloudy, tight white head. Delicious aroma of sweet tarts and sour cherries. Flavor is soft with fruits, hay, flower petals and perfume. Soft and chalky on the palate. Very drinkable and was a hit with others at the tasting.

750 ml bottle from mrbendo, shared with haukur and Kalli and haukur’s tasting on 1 May 2008. Pour is orange-amber mostly clear with a 1 inch slightly off-white head. Visible carbonation. Aroma of ripe pears, Belgian yeastiness and a hint of old laundry. Karl mentioned it smelled like someone got sick, I didn’t get that, but an interesting observation. Taste is sweet fruit - more of the pear and big Belgian yeastiness. Finish has some sugar sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy malty aroma with hints of yeast and alcohol. Sweet malty warming and slightly burning malty spicy yeasty flavor. The finish is long warming malty with some spicy yeasty alcohol hints in the aftertaste. A few years in the celler and it would have been even better.

Rated April 2008. Courtesy of Fishinget. Pours copper-ish with a hint of haze and off white head. Nice perfumy aroma with flowers up to and orange juice and apricot underneath. The taste is rich and thick with sweet malts, sweet sugar, mild beats, coriander and some follow up alcohol heat. Lots of flavor that could use more age. But very tasty now.

750 mL bottle from Harris Teeter Barracks Road in Charlottesville. Pours orange-ish with a thin head. Yeasty aroma with apple and grape notes. Nice taste of caramel and dark fruits. Lively and effervescent.
