So just who is Ingrid? Perhaps she’s a reference to the Swedish silver screen icon or maybe it’s the line seemingly spoken by every other Swedish actress in films from the 60s and 70s (we know you know the ones we’re talking about).
One thing is certain – this Swedish inspired Double IPA is not as innocent as she at first appears. A seductive body of rich malts and a buxom amount of Citra, Nelson Sauvin and Bramling Cross hops have been added to fresh Scandinavian cloudberries to deliver this beer’s raunchy tart finish.
Designed by the readers of Swedish beer blog BeerSweden, ‘Hello, My Name is Ingrid’ is a celebration of all that is great about Sweden. It does not, however, contain any pickled herrings. Or meatballs.
Malts: Cara and Extra Pale
Hops: Bramling Cross, Centennial, Citra, Columbus and Enigma.

Frisk duft av citrusfrukter. Tynn dekkende hinne av skum. Dunkel gulbrun farge. God smak av friske sitrusfrukter med en liten ’søtsyrlig’ ettersmak. Nydelig og leskende øl.

Bottle at home. The colour is hazy orange with a light beige, medium head. Hoppy aroma of grapefruit, grassy hops and some pine. The flavour is also pretty hoppy with a more sweet fruity touch. Has a rich and smooth mouth feel, and a medium to havy bitterness. A very hoppy ale but well-balanced and rich. I wish the cloudberries would be more pronounced.

Pours completely clear golden with a small, creamy white film head. Aroma has peach, fat resin, citrus. Medium carbonation, nice dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is bitter, peach, resin, berries, apricot. Nice, lingering bitter dryness. Could taste more of cloudberry though.

Sample at BrewDog tasting, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate white head. Nice hoppy and fruity aroma with a hint of cloudberries. Unfortunately: in the flavour the bittering hops (Columbus and Centennial) completely overpowers the expected white grape and gooseberry notes of the Nelson Sauvin hops, and the blackcurrant notes of the Bramling Cross hops - also the subtle flavour of the cloudberries is lost. Another example of BrewDog partly ruining their own beers by their silly "tougher than Thou" image, which now appears to be a constraint on their product range, rather than an asset.

Bottled:
Pours hazy amber with a slight haze. Mid sized head. Aroma is oranges, goose berries and caramel. Sharp mouth feel. Dry, hoppy bitterness with notes of hops and nettles but no cloud berries! Long, dry finish. Drinkable but over hyped.

Half pint, draught at the BrewDog Bar in Stockholm. Cloudy orange coloured body. Off-white head, good lacing. Sappy citrus nose. Succulent taste of peach, lemon and apricots offset by mid-sweet malts. Mild, long-lived, bitter ending of citrus shells. Well bodied. Tasty, 26.06.2013.

Tja. Ingrid er ikke beskjeden. Det blir dessverre for ubalansert med brutal styrke på flere parametre. Nja.

Aroma: Tropical fruit and cloudberries.
Appearance: Hazy golden body with a thin off-white head. Light carbonation. Great lacing.
Taste: Sharp cloudberry zing and pine resin. No hint of it’s 8.2% ABV - this is incredibly easy drinking. Tastes like a fairly typical BrewDog IPA/DIPA but with more of a citric sharpness.
Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel that becomes sticky. Soft carbonation fizz.
Overall: Sharp and hoppy - lovely.
