A golden beer with a big and blond head. Aroma of wheat, lots of yeast, lemon, hint of spices and sourness. Taste of wheat, spices, carnation, quite lot of sourness, and some bananas. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, still smooth. Nice hefe with more flavours than usually, still easy and fresh as it should be.

50 cl bottle as ”Erdinger Oktoberfest @ home, BBE 04/2013
A hefeweizen as an Oktoberfestbeer? What is this? An attempt from a weissbräu to get their share of the Oktoberfest market? Enough rant, let’s get down to rating: Aroma is somewhat tart with yeasty notes and some citrus. Flavour is slightly sweet and tart with some banana esthers and yeast. Palate is slightly too high on CO2. Good and faithful to the style.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - as Erdinger Oktoberfest, from Alko, 20120907) The beer poured hazy and golden. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, mango, sweetness and hint of clove. Palate was medium bodied with quite hight carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, mango, malts, grass and bitterness, Aftertaste was sweet, fruity and bitter. An exceptionally fruity and also sweet hefeweizen. The bitter finish brought a bit too harsh contrast.

Taken at a local pubs Ocotberfest during Oct 2011: sadly not in the correct glassware, £2.00 for a half pint in a standard unbadged UK half sleeve. Cloudy, murky, you choose! It’s lemon gold in colour with a good white crown on top, just like almost all wiessbiers. Bananas and cloves with a vanilla overtone, in both the smell and taste: yummy. I couldn’t tell any difference to the regular Erdinger to be honest, the advertised 5.7% ABV certainly didn’t feature greatly in the taste but I did knock a glass over in the next pub I visited, so maybe it was stronger than I thought. Serving type: on-tap

Bottled, 0.5 l. Pours hazy honey golden colour with massive white head and flat carbonation. Aroma of yeast, bread, vanilla and some soapy notes, too. Sweet and sour malty flavour, very weak bitterness, while aftertaste is quite alcoholic and long lasting. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Tasty...

Tap @ Amundsen, Oslo. This is a cloudy pale yellow beer with a nice dense and creamy lasting off-white head. The aroma has nice distinct notes of citrus, some malts and wheat. Average carbonation, medium-bodied and the mouthfeel is kinda thin and light oily. Light citrus flavors with wheat and hints of some fruits. In some way it can remind a bit of a thin lemon-like-juice? End actually kinda dryish with hints of flour and white paper. Not bad at all, but the whole flour-paper thing kinda sat me out a bit.

Medium beige head. Hazy deep brown body. Caramelly earthy aroma with spicy fruity notes. Dry-sweet smoky roasty earthy taste with caramelly spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish mealy earthy aftertaste with licorice and paper notes. Quite nice, but a bit bland. (0.4l draft at Amundsen, Oslo.)
