root beer is a decidedly adult take on the old-fashioned soda. It’s
brash, bold and handcrafted with aromas of wintergreen, vanilla
and sassafras. Made with Louisiana cane sugar and brewed with
the swagger and rebellious spirit of our most famous pirate.

Bottle. I rated this for what it is and for a hard root beer it is really good.

Bottle. Surprisingly dark, near-black color with beige color. Aroma is root beer, ethereal sugars, mouthwater, syrup, and apparently this distinct root beer flavour is wintergreen. Taste is the same, lots of mouthwater and herbs. Medium carbonation. Yeah, it indeed is an alcoholic version of root beer, so in this sense it is well-made - if you can handle that.

Bottle: Dark, cola-coloured, with a creamy tan head. Accurate sassafras, vanilla aroma. Taste is sweet, minty, root beer, vanilla. A really good one.....a little clingy and a touch too flat, but pretty nicely done.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very fast-dying tan head, just like a soda, with a touch of an oil slick left on top. Aroma of rich sugars, sassafras, wintergreen, syrup and a touch of alcohol as well - very nice and sweet smelling. Medium-bodied; Noticeable alcohol bite at first then shows the plentiful sweetness and rich sugar flavours from the sassafras and wintergreen with a touch of sarsaparilla noticeable as well, but some funky-ish malt notes and a relatively bitter alcohol bite at the end. Aftertaste shows some pungency, and the sweetness goes through, but the root beer notes show well and last with the sugars for a while. Overall, a nice hard root beer that shows well and literally feels like the abita root beer plus a touch of alcohol pungency. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 16-February-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 13-September-2016.

Looks smells and tastes like root beer, what else can be said. Not beer as we know it. Lots of sugar, will probably burn my tumm tumm, so much sugar with alky. Yea, tastes good but you’d never know this had alky in in except for that slight medicinal alky feel on the finish. Don’t let yer kids git this by mistake. I’m tired of every other beer company coming out with another rootbeer beer knockoff. What’s next on ratebeer? WTF? Difficult if you are real beer lover. Stupid tick. Probably will not ever buy another rootbeer flavored ’beer’ again.

Bottle. Vanilla, wintergreen, sassafras/sarsaparilla, caramel malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Very sweet wintergreen, vanilla, sassafras flavor. Mildly bitter herbal alcohol finish. Carbonation light. Pretty good - one of the better alcohol root beers I’ve had - would have been much better with better carbonation.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells like root beer. Med body or nearly. Flavor is like a root beer, and unlike so many it’s not excessively sweet. Decent essay on the topic.

Root beer hard candy aroma, rubbery funk undercurrent. Black, medium tan head. Balanced sarsparilla, chocolate, cherry. Same rubbery off flavor, but less prominent.. Light body, easy carbonation.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Clear dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of root beer, vanilla and a bit of caramel. The taste is root beer, vanilla, herbal and tinny notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet.
