Our aromatic pilsner possesses a delicate malt flavor combined with a fine bitterness, derived from the highest quality hops from the Hallertau at a refreshing 30 IBU. The first impression on the palate is pleasant and satisfying, followed by the balanced bitterness and aroma of the hops, which is more floral than tart; with its luminously golden yellow color, this an impeccable example of a traditional Bavarian Pils.

330ml bottle, many thanks to Finn. Frothy white head leaving spotty rings behind. Clear, late straw coloured body. Bread, pale malts and noble hops on the nos. Grass and gentle herbal hoppy taste, mild hints of lemon. Smooth and restrained dry, bittersweet ending. Fine bodied. Clean and refreshing. Well made, decent version of the style (Tromsø 01.09.2013).

Must be clear yellow, drinken right from the bottle. Seems to have a tad of that sharpilsner old country bite, yes very familiar. Good co2 sizzle, sharp lager hops stick with you on the finish, petty long lasting sharp pils bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours golden with a white head. Nicely balanced beer with lots of herbal notes and a crisp and refreshing bitterness. There are also notes of sweet white bread and vegtables. Clean!

Clear gold, with a tall, foamy white head. Grains, malt light grass scent. Taste is grain, straw, mild hop bittering. Not overly sweet, nor bitter. Simple...but well done.

11.2oz bottle. Transparent, filtered yellow-tan body. Quick risiing carbonation bubbles float up to a steady, creamy, white head. Classic peppery noble hop aroma. Pretty much nails it. Some light creamy, doughy lager notes. Discernable peppery noble hop character. Clean and easy, very nice.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy and minimally strawy aroma, plain bitter hoppy overtones. Taste is fresh hoppy, minimally grassy, very cautious hints of lemon, pale malty basis. Well-balanced, refreshing, smooth. One of the better Pilseners.

Head: white, medium, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: yellow, clear.
Aroma: aromatic hops, not too strong though, some malt. Taste is the same as aroma with a bitter finish.

I was pretty excited to find a bottle from Weihenstephaner that’s new to me, and it’s even better that this is quite a nice pilsner. It pours pale yellow, a bright hay color. Quite clear. A big white head puffed up immediately and held its shape a good few inches over the top of the glass. Lots of bubbles sticking to the walls of the glass and such. Aroma is a mix of very fresh grain with some bright spicy hops. The hops are a bit milder than I’d like, but their aroma is nice. Pleasant, lightly tart flavor from the lager yeast. Malt is light and sweet. Taste has more of that light, yeasty tartness. Pretty crisp. There’s some more of that quality pilsner malt sweetness, but the beer is fairly dry, particularly in the finish. Hops are spicy, grassy and floral. Mouthfeel is mildly tart and very clean. Weihenstephaner definitely shows off their technical skill with this beer. It just nails the classic pilsner flavors. It’s tasty and extremely easy to drink. There’s no off flavors to be found. This beer is pretty much what I wish macro lagers tasted like.
