With our 2XIPA, a massive dry hop brings a feverishly hoppy and well-balanced Double IPA. Citrusy hops tease the senses with big aromatics and certifiable bitterness. An enormous haul of hops, including Simcoe and Citra, deliver notes of grapefruit, lemon and doughy sweetness. Double your expectations because this is an ale that demands reverence.

Hazy blond pour. Strong smell of honey and sweet taste. Smells like a Belgian honey almost with alcohol and everything. Sweet alcohol leave. Raisins and rum cake here. Soft carbonation. Alcohol balances hops well for final product. Bottle at Castro’s

Draft @ Portsmouth Brewery guest tap. Served in a stem glass. Light orange color with an amazing amount of head and lace. This brew is pleasing to me, both in nose and taste. Hefty citrus nose with and good amount of honey and malt. Fresh juicy hop flavors of citrus, flowers, caramel malt, and some tropical fruit. Not over the top in any aspect. Some may not agree with the “Imperial” label however, it is unbelievably easy to drink. Plus you would never realize its 8.2 abv. Masked real well. Nice.

Clear light orange colour with a decent sized white head. Smells hoppy, grapefruit and bitter - lovely. Tastes bitter, fruity and hoppy. Great IPA! Great carbo, medium body.

Hazy tan with a thin head. The aroma is chewy and a little bit piney. The taste is the same, but adding a little bit of tropical fruit, some stickiness and a late splash of alcohol. Ok, but not especially dynamic.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy old gold with a collapsing white head. Aroma is citrusy, faint bready malt. Taste is bittersweet with a lingering bitter finish. Peachy hops are the most noticeable flavor. Prickly mouthfeel with a medium-full body. It’s okay, but nothing special.

355 ml. bottle in to a snifter. Lovely, clear golden-orange colour with a small, lasting white head. Light bitter aroma with citrus, bread malts, oranges and hops. Clearly a DIPA with less focus on the hops. Medium bitter taste with a medium body, oily feel and a soft carbonation. Less "brutal" bitterness than other DIPAs, more friendly to your taste buds. As a DIPA this beer lacks a bit, but measured at the drinking friendliness this beer is delicate and well balanced.

12 ounce bottle into tulip, bottled 12/15/2011. Finally picked one up because they date bottles now. Pours a nice crystal clear golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense white head with great retention that reduces to a thick cap that lingers. Some nice soapy lacing on the glass as well. Aromas of huge grapefruit orange, pine, herbal spiciness, floral, lemon zest, caramel, and light breadiness. Fantastic aromas here, plenty of citrus. Taste of big pine, grapefruit, herbal spiciness, orange, biscuit, caramel, and floral notes. Good amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pine, grapefruit, herbal spiciness, orange, and caramel. Fantastic malt balance in this, bitterness is not overwhelming at all like some DIPAs. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth drinking, but it is still a bit of a sipper. Alcohol is nicely hidden with only a warming after the finish. Overall this is an exceptional DIPA. Great citrus flavor, malt balance, and smooth drinking.

bottle - Pours deep hazy orange with the expected big hops aroma. The citrus comes through nicely. The flavor has big citrus accented hops with a big malt body to balance it. For the style it’s well balanced and full. There are better IIPAs out there, but this is quite tasty.

27/12/2011 355ml bottle from Domus Birrae (Roma) @ home - BB: n/a (2011-739)
Clear golden beer, creamy white head, adhesive, bit stable. Aroma: very much like Belgian tripel; malty, honey, bit of faint citrus, peppery, some yeast, spices. MF: light carbon, full body. Taste: sweet malts, some hops, some spices (pepper, cloves), citrus, bit fruity, slightly bitter. Aftertaste: some citrus, slightly bitter, but not IPA, let alone an IIPA. Could be the age, but as there is no date on the bottle, it's impossible to tell. So once more a call to all American brewers: put some bottle dates on those labels! (not on the bottles, as the ink washes off!)

Fra fat på Olympen, Oslo 1 Nov 11. Gyldengul. OK kremaktig skum som fester seg til glasset. Litt uklar. Forsiktig tung, fruktig aroma. Innslag av rabarbra. Balansert behagelig fruktsmak. Plommer & fersken. Bitter fruktig ettersmak. God!
