Here at BrewDog, we love the hidden tracks; the unexpected discoveries. The B-Sides.

Take our 10HL pilot kit. It is the place our brewers let those imaginations fly and lay down unpredictable, creative tracks. Our brew team use it to dial in our small-scale experimental brews, each then finding its way to our bars as a draught-only special release.

However, we felt the naming convention used previously – Pilot Brew XXX – didn't fully reflected the ingenuity displayed by our brewers. To depict this a little better we now release each pilot brew as a bona fide B-Side; alongside our production-batch launches that take place at our bars, you’ll be able to discover a flip side in the form of one of our B-Side releases.

Tap at CBC 2015, Copenhagen. Originally rated 20150502. Colour is dark brown with brownish small head. Aromas and flavours: Booze, alcohol, some fruits and malts. Horrible booze bomb.

Draught sample at CBC 2015. Dark brown colour with a small, off-white head. Sweet, rich aroma of caramel malts, wooden notes, dark dried fruit, plums, figs and booze. Taste is sweet. Full body with a soft carbonation. Finishes sweet with rich malts and warming alcohol. Rich beer but a bit to boozy for my taste buds.

Keg at the 4th Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Session III, 02/05/2015. Rich chestnut brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is sweet, figs, dates, Soreen fruit loaf, toffee fudge. Taste comprises barrel notes, sweet licks, toffee, dates, prunes, figgy jam. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks and booze in the close. Ok barley wine, masks the ABV well but on the other hand lacks depth and finesse.
