On tap at Bridge Taphouse, StL. Black with beige head. Sweet chocolate, some cocoa, caramel, bit syrupy. Low carbonation and medium+ bodied. BA variants are way better.

Can. A- Roasty, char, soy, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Soy, roasty, umami. P- Full body, thick texture, average carbonation, savory finish. O- I had 3 variations before this base beer and all were outstanding. This was good but not quite on par. This had a lot of soy and umami notes rather than a decadent chocolate flavor. Great but not what I expected.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a viscous, pitch black with a finger of brown head that dissipates. Big stout aromas with milk chocolate, cacao nib, marshmallow creme, coffee and some dark fruit notes as it warms up. Good viscosity on the palate, with a silky, velvety smooth mouthfeel. Loads of milk chocolate, vanilla alongside cacao nib and coffee notes. Rich and full-bodied. Great balance. This would be amazing in some bourbon barrels.

12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 4/22/20. Pours like motor oil (hershiser2 agrees). Thin head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, booze, coffee. Taste is coffee, nuts, roast, caramel, cherry. Full bodied, low carb, mild booziness (not bad for the ABV). Nice beer.

The Aromas are sweet dark malt, cocoa, roast, and a hint of coffee. Flavors are like nose, sweet up front with the barest hint of bitter in the Finish. Also suggestions of licorice and molasses. Good carbonation and body. Booze comes out towards the end.
