Hercules Double IPA is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, fit for the gods. Hercules delivers a huge amount of hops from start to finish. Its hefty backbone of nutty, malty sweetness balances its aggressive hop profile.

In April 2008 from BA. A 335ml Brown Bottle, obtained from Borough Market, London. Recommended by BA ColoradoBobs. Poured into a Hoegaarden ’Grand Cru’ stemmed tulip glass. A dull, deep terracotta orange body with an off-white almost biege coloured, tight but thin foaming head. The beers body has a very slight haze to it, but not enough to detract from its fine looks. The aroma was all hops and more hops, some malty molasses type smells did pop up if I sniffed hard and long enough. I tasted this straight after a Titan IPA, this is a seriously hoppy brew compared to that (and I thought that hoppy). It is a little too hoppy for my English tender tastebuds, but it obviously hits all the right notes for the style. I obviously can’t compare it with others within its class, but overall I liked it. Not used to 9.10% beers (although I do hit Belgium regular), this seemed well balanced and hid the alcohol very well. Will this turn me into a hop monster? Probably not. Will I look out for hoppy American beers in the future? Probably. Thanks John, only another 5 Colorado beers left to try/review (before I buy some more?).

Pours cloudy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, grape, caramel and dried fruits. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long fruity, sweet and bitter finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

12 oz bottle. Deep amber/red, almost clear liquid with medium, dense off-white head. Nice lacing and long lasting head. Aroma of grapefruit, wort (Great Divide house aroma), citrus, caramel, tangerines, pine and biscuity malt. Taste is light sweet and medium to high bitter with a nice, toasty malt backbone and notes of grapefruit and sweet malt. Medium bodied with good carbonation and sticky mouthfeel. Quite heavy, but really nicely resinous, piny DIPA. Too malty.

Dark amber ...slight haze...thin frothy head...good lacing
Aroma - rich golden nutty sweet malts....grassy resinous citrusy hops.
Taste - rich sweet malts...resin hops....grassy citrusy hops...the rich malt and strong hop balance works here....sweet toffee...resinous.....grapefruit...quite complex...alcohol quite well hidden
Palate - soft carb...full body...oily viscous texture. FInish as main flavour - sweet tangy grassy resin citrusy finish...cleans well not overly bitter
Overall - I prefer this over Rumble and Titan

0.355l bottle from BrewDog webshop. This is light clouded clear orangish-amber beer with a medium sized lacing off-white head. Lovely hoppy aroma, kinda sweet I guess. Grapefruit and citrus, caramel, pineapple- and strawberry hints and it's also quite malty. Smooth - almost creamy on the mouthfeel with a prickling average carbonation level. Hoppy flavors, pine, definitely some cortex in here and it's also quite malty in the flavor. Distinct alcohol touch but it's quite suitable. Ends with a long lasting hoppy-bitter aftertaste. Can sense that it's not completely fresh, but it's still a quite nice and powerful IPA.

Refrigerated bottle date February 2011, damn likely past its prime. Pours opaque orange that lightens toward the top and bottom, with small off-white head. Some lacing, thick body, low carbonation, and sticky texture. Taste is heavy grapefruit and woody bitter hops.

Flaske 0,355l kjøpt på Utobeer, Borough Market og fortært i heimen 22 Mai 11. Rik & sterk fruktig aroma. Høyt luftig skum som varer ei god stund. Smaken er fyldig & behagelig: Rikt fruktig. Appelsin & fersken. Søt bitter ettersmak. Styrken merkes på smaken. Veldig bra! KI=7
