Hercules Double IPA is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, fit for the gods. Hercules delivers a huge amount of hops from start to finish. Its hefty backbone of nutty, malty sweetness balances its aggressive hop profile.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Poured a slighty hazy dark copper colour with a broken off white head and low carbonation. The aroma is hoppy and malty which is where the flavour is at too. It’s ultra hoppy and extremely bitter with a little bit of spice on the palate and some resin in the aftertaste. It’s a very nice beer, but it’s been copied many times over now and it’s starting to become a little tedoius. Could do with a little more spice to make it more refreshing.

A beer to celebrate my 500000. line on IRC channel #kiksu!
Aroma has exotic fruits, American hops, caramel and resin. Flavour has resin, caramel, exotic fruits, grapefruit and hints of pine needles. I like the strong fruity aromas here, but then again this is a bit too sweet.

Aroma is sweetish and fruity with resin, caramel and hints of vegetables. Flavour is sweetish with resin, caramel, fruits and some woody notes. A bit too sweet and woody.

Nice fruity tones and sweetness is not that disturbing, but now there is glue and menthol in the background. Harsh score estimate: 3.6

Hoppy smell. Cloudy amber colour, yellow head. Sour and bitter. Aroma of hops, herbs, some spices. This was supposed to be twice as hardcore as yeti. It was not.

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear deep amber with an ecru head. Grassy and boozy nose. Caramel notes. Bitter finish. Quite tasty.

Tap at Great Divide, Denver - 04/06/12. Slightly obscured orange amber with a small white head. Sweet caramel malt, pine, citrus hops on the nose - good fresh aromas. Taste pretty much follows nose with a little bread and biscuit in the body. Fuller end of medium bodied, slightly sticky feel at times, but finishes smooth. Good all round DIPA.

Bottle from Stirchley Wine & Spirits; my expectations were high for this I could smell a malty aroma with hops but I can’t taste the hops that I can smell, not a bad DIPA but I’ve had much better. Keg at Brewdog Birmingham; this was fresh as a daisy at the Dog loads of pine forest hop, big tropical hit in the taste malt takes a back seat.

Bottle. Pours amber orange with a small off-white head that disappears quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma is pine, roasted malts, a bit of citrus. Flavor is dominated by a heavy roasted malt body, with pine and grass notes from the hops. Leads to a bitter, alcoholic finish. This one drinks a lot like DFH90, which is also extremely popular, but too malt heavy for my personal taste.
