Bottle picked up at Kris Wines. Pours very dark red with a big white head which quickly fades. Colour is almost red wine like, unless you hold up it to light when it becomes a rich orangey brown. Aroma is full of hops, almost spruce like with a bit of an alcohol hit. Taste gives medium bitterness, and more alcohol with a crisp hoppy finish. Average carbonation. Nice beer but it doesn't really hide its percentage very well.

Bottle purchased from the Vineyard in Ramsbottom. The Kernel brewery has been receiveing a lot of plaudits, this is only my second beer I have tried so hold high hopes. The nose is exceptional, rich and full, with citrussy IPA notes and a touch of malt. I was struggling to pick up the Rye others recorded. A full bodied taste with pine and some tropical fruits from the hops. A nice balance of malt. The (realtivly) high alcohol gives an initial sweetness of an American IPA but finishes with a satisfying bitterness. Nice mouthfeel, with a good oily texture. The mild carbonation is suited to the beer. A very good l beer.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige and short foamy head. Toasty malty nose with an intensively fruity, spicy and resiny hoppy touch. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Hearty and toasty malt-character with notes of cough syrup, as well as fruity and resiny hops; sweet-bitter solid malty and aromatically hoppy finish with a lingering aftertaste. 28.III.12

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, hazy, stable off-white foamy layer, solid dry aromatic hoppy nose, notes of dried fruits and cough syrup underneath; Not too dry bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied; soft and well rounded bitter-(caramelly)sweet finish with hops sticking to the palate. Very good stuff…

Bottle from trade with Leighton. Opaque, dark brown color, big vast off-white to beige head. Smell fruits, sweet, red currant and slightly strawberry as well. Taste sweet, little bit oily texture, bitter aftertaste. Good balance, round taste, pretty nice beer. Firm ABV, medium to full carbo and body that suit the beer.

bottle. cloudy dark brown, smooth light brown head. very nice bitter hoppy aroma, also slightly malty sweet and caramelly sweet. aroma matches the color well, being a bit more full than a flat-out hop aroma. rye can also be sensed. flavor is sweet matls, bitter hops, syupy caramelly note, faint exotic fruits, but the flowery bitter hops dominate. This is super tasty for a 9% alc. beer. Kernel did it again, a super tasty hoppy beer. Thanks for trading it with me, papsoe (who got it from madmitch6 i think)
