In bottle at Postgasthof Fischerwirt, Walchsee, Austria Friday 16th August 2019 after a cycle ride (about 26miles) from our campsite at Walchsee to Kufstein and back Pours conker brown, good clarity, with a head that bizzarely appears off white but with a splint reddy pink tinge. A subtle hint of tangy dark fruit skins, and there is a little caramel but with a lagery edge throughout. Nice.

Bottle. Color: Very dark ruby, mocha head. Aroma: Dark malt, caramel. Taste: Dark malt, roasty notes, chocolate hints, caramel, hints of brown sugar. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Lacking taste. Mwah.

Bottles looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep black, huge head. Starts mild, malty, light roasty. Shy sweetish hints. Finish well balanced, quite drinkable. Not bad.

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear, deep ruby pour, black on sight. One finger soapy off-white head, shory lasting. Little to no lacing on the glass. Nose is roasted malts, caramel, grains, mild coffee and smoke. Thin body, soft to medium carbonation. Average mouthfeel and texture, a bit on the light side. Roasty bittersweet taste and aroma. Similar to nose, strong malt character, roasted and caramel, grainy background, hints of coffee and cocoa. Mild herbal spiciness. Syrupy notes, a bit sweet. Mild metal bitterness towards the finish. Short finish, slightly smoked. Ok.

bottle from Merkur Wien-Hütteldorf. Deep brown, almost black, with a mid-sized beige-brown head. Dry start with roasted malts, clean, shy hints of chooclate and dark coffee. Not too dry, quite pleasant.

Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter en licht zoet met duidelijk iets van karamel, bittere chocolade en koffie.

Buegelverschlußflasche (Dank an den Herrn Professor!): Very deep amber coloured with a ruby sheen, medium-sized stable creamy tanned head; moderate, but quite complex dryish nose of toasted malt, caramel, dark malt and dried berries; mild bitter-sweet flavour, very light bodied; lingering bitter-sweet caramelly-fruity finish. A nice brew from an industrial brewer...

Bottle from an Euro Spar in Fürstenfeld. Shared with the CR crowd. Almost black dark ruby body. Slightly stale caramel aroma, simple, as expected. Taste, stale dry caramel, slightly meaty, vaguely honeyish. Meh. Liiiiiiight herbal touch. Dry. Meh. Eh. As expected. How surprising. But had worse.
