Bourbon Street Stout is an Imperial Stout that is aged in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels. Our Imperial Stout is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. After fermentation the beer is cold aged for 6 weeks. This is necessary for all of the flavors of the malt and hops to balance and produce a very smooth flavor.
After the cold aging the beer is transferred into the bourbon barrels. It is then aged for another 8 weeks to absorb all of the flavors from the barrels. The result is a strong stout that brings out the roasted flavors from the malt and the warming toasted, vanilla, and bourbon flavors from the barrels.

Bottle during RBWG Booze Buse 20/02/15 I picked this one up in a small store in Georgia. Light black with a moderate tan swirl. Nose is roast malt, subtle bourbon, chocolate, light spice. Taste comprises bourbon, toffee, chocolate, light charr, spice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Easy drinking impy, bourbon well balanced and drinks below the ABV, a little simplistic and lacking depth though.

22oz bottle pours out dark brown almost black topped with a small tan head. Nose is roast malts chocolate coffee vanilla and a nice light bourbon barrel touch. Taste is more of the roast malts chocolate coffee vanilla and light bourbon touch. A very big surprise from abita.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Deep brown and capped with a finger of creamy tan head. Nose is light barrel, roast, chocolate… light bitters. The barrel influence is well done here; lightly sweet with a little oak. Some cocoa and vanilla. A little bittersweetness and a bite that I associate with rye. Pretty darn good, better than other Abita brews I had so far.
