Bourbon Street Stout is an Imperial Stout that is aged in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels. Our Imperial Stout is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. After fermentation the beer is cold aged for 6 weeks. This is necessary for all of the flavors of the malt and hops to balance and produce a very smooth flavor.
After the cold aging the beer is transferred into the bourbon barrels. It is then aged for another 8 weeks to absorb all of the flavors from the barrels. The result is a strong stout that brings out the roasted flavors from the malt and the warming toasted, vanilla, and bourbon flavors from the barrels.

A soft tan head on a deep brown body. The nose leads with coffee, a vegetal undertaste, malt and bitter chocolate. some nice tastes going on here; If this was richer and more dense, it could be a top two percenter. Dark berries, molasses, mild coffee, chocolate, coconut macaroons, damp wood, and bourbon create a nice blend. Nice tastes.

Bottle shared on the bus during RBWG 2015. Cheers! Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Big sweet flavour with notes of toasted bread, light vanilla, chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tasty finish, more chocolate, creamy vanilla. Good stuff.

Pouring this filled the room with bourbon brownie smell, tastes like German chocolate cake, smooooooth. Could be thicker but flavor is top top.

Black with a brown head - Heavy bourbon aroma with wood and vanilla - Malt body with some fruity tones with wood vanilla and bouzy bourbon - The bourbon, wood and vanilla goes into a finish with alcohol heat - This was good

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, medium sized beige head. Nice aroma of dark malts, some chocolate, wood, hint of fire. Smooth mouthfeel, moderately sweet; nice flavor of dark caramel, moderate to light malt depth, and evident buttery bourbon.
Nothing special, but it’s a quite good beer.

Bomber, Kroger (Rio Hill). I never noticed their bomber section before (is it new?). I’d guess they have about 30. Anyway, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, maybe raisin. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, earth, toast, some fruitiness, burnt coffee. Finishes with a burnt coffee and chocolate candy flavor, which is unfortunate, as the bulk of the beer is nice.

Pour is a near black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roasted malt with some barrel character. Flavor has more of the barrel, some tasty vanilla, a long with a decent roast malt and sweet molasses. Pretty nice impy stout with just enough bourbon barrel without a huge booze. It’s always a plus that these Abita bombers are all under 6 bucks.
