Sample thanks to sjogro. Clear amber with no head. Alcohol, honey, port, soft old wood, oxidized honey, sherry, soft spices, caramel. Very sweet, under medium bitter. Full bodied. Tastes a lot like port or sherry, pretty nice.

Bottle cracked at the homestead. Poors clear copper with no head nor bubbles. Sweet honey, raisans, beeswax, prunes, soft hints of licorice, herbs, nutty wood. Rich and sweet, with leathery and rusty bitter edge, warming booziness. Proper drink for the stormy cold evenings. Seems appropriate to drink this with a sore throat. Somewhat reminiscent of pinetreetip honey coughing syrup. Lovely.

Bottle. It's a clear dark golden mead, still and oily, with a good dash of alcohol in the aroma, with cellar, honey, flowery scents and sugar. It's full-bodied, sweet and oily on the palate, warming and sticky, with lots of honey in the flavor. Sugar, flowers, cellar hints and some heather too. Lasting warming, sweet honey finish. A pleasant and tasteful mead. Perhaps a bit boozy, but sure nice. 190406
