750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 1/11/2012. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, raisin, orange zest, apple, floral, light pine, orange rind, grass, toast, brown sugar, light chocolate, oak, light bourbon, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of malt and hop notes with light-moderate barrel notes. Taste of caramel, raisin, orange zest, apple, floral, toast, brown sugar, light chocolate, oak, light bourbon, light pine, light clove, grass, and floral earthiness. Light amount of floral citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, citrus, floral, toast, light pine, brown sugar, light chocolate, oak, light clove, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of malt and hop flavors with light-moderate barrel presence; with a nice bitterness/sweetness balance for the style and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a slick, lightly syrupy, and sightly sticky mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American barleywine. All around very nice balance and complexity of malt and hop flavors with a fair amount of barrel presence; and quite smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

From the April 2013 3R6P beer tasting. +++ Sample from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel, coconut, and ripe dark fruits. The flavor was sweet and tart with moderate dark and golden fruits, tropical fruits, pineapple, ginger, coconut and a touch of tobacco. Long tropical fruit and coconut finish. Moderately full bodied. Very nice.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is dust, bourbon, alcohol, hop, pine, roasted malt. Flavour is dust, bourbon, alcohol, hop, malt, oak, vanilla, dried fruit, caramel. Full body. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Hazy brown liquid with small to medium off - white head. Aroma of caramel, wood, vanilla, toffee, pine, grain, citrus, biscuit, bread and toffee. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of toffee, biscuit, pine and bread. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice.,

Bottle at the Cask, Pimlico - 14/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin tan head that retains well. Nose is dark caramel, toffee fudge, booze, toasted almonds, vanilla. Taste comprises dark caramel, toffee fudge, marshmellow, toasty nuts, sweet sugars,vanilla essence, touch of booze. Full bodied, smooth on the palate with little in the way of carbonation, sweet boozey finish. Great stuff!

Bottle, 75cl corked. Bottled 100401. A dense, light beige head of moderate size sits on top of an unclear, dark amber body. It’s quite hoppy on the nose, with pine cones, resins, some roasted malts, sugary notes, some dried fruits, a faint touch of alcohol and some caramel. Some bready hints. The flavor has a nice bitterness to keep all the malty flavors company. Bread, caramel, dark sugar, dried fruits and some nutty hints. A hint of vanilla blends in. It’s full-bodied, lightly warming and almost sticky, with soft carbonation. Lasting finish with a decent bitterness. Lovely. 121124
