Launch into the exquisite flavors of bourbon with splashes of vanilla. Watch for currents of dark chocolate and dried fruit. Generous amounts of hops and malts make for a smooth journey from start to finish. Decadent desserts and aged cheeses make superb companions.

Bottle. Dark red pour with a foamy beige head. Full aroma, plum, currant and vanilla. Barrelly flavour with fruit and a bit of candy sweetness. Dry finish, between a beer and a whisky.

Pours a clear mahogany with a sticky light tan head. The aroma is complex. Brown sugar, dried fruits, caramel, vanilla. The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma had me anticipating and there is a strong hop presence in the flavor that also wasn’t evident in the aroma. American style BW. Well balanced, this one could age a while. Very smooth and hides it’s alcohol quite well.

750 ml bottle - Michael Jackson's Rare Beer Club, 8/28/11

Aroma: The nose is lots of bourbon, ripe fruits, caramel, toffee, wood, spice, and vanilla
Appearance: A dark mahogany-brown color with a fairly small beige head and light lacing
Flavor: Tastes fairly malty, lots of caramel/toffee, and a big bourbon/wood presence as well
Palate: The body is fairly full, sticky, a soft carbonation, and with a lingering warmth and spice
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a solid beer. The barrel aging works fairly well. I like this beer, but I didn't really find it overwhelmingly exciting. Solid stuff.

750ml bottle. Pours a dark copper with a large head. Aroma is molasses, fig with a bit of bourbon underneath. Taste has raisin to start. Mild bourbon and caramel in the finish. Subtle and not over powering but tasty.

Bottle (bottled 03/23/11). Pours with a slightly hazed deep bronze-auburn hued body with a large and lasting off-white fluffy head. Aromas of dark fruit, wood, raisins, esters, malt. Honey, toasty, biscuity, caramel malt profile, slight hops. Cinnamon, vanilla, lightly woody, oak, pine. Flavors of alcohol, dark fruits, chewy, caramel, pine, toffee, bland malt profile. Alcohol, minimal fruit. Boring honestly. Bitter balance. Pretty dry, lightly roasty (and a bit of associated acidity). Hugely bitter and lingering bitterness, some light tannins. Carbonic bite. Evergreen trees. Lively bubbles, warming, boring. Sulfate water. Plenty hot, minimal bourbon, plenty tannin, but not much else flavor wise.
