(On tap @ Mikkeller Viktoriagade, Copenhagen, May 7/19) Pours black with a small tan head. Notes of rich and deep maple-infused toffee, crème brulée for sure, lots of cooked dark fruits, warm brandy, moderate coffee, some smooth but reasonably present roast from mid-sip on, soft oak, fairly sweet up front for sure, and moderately dry on the finish, long aftertaste has nice maple chocolate with a little roasty coffee, drying oak, brandy-infused fruit, subtle roast bitterness. Medium-full body, very creamy, quite softly carbonated, no real alcohol heat. Beautifully brewed, smooth as silk, maple is the star but the brandy barrel is an inspired pairing here, the coffee fairly subtle but grounding the sweet sugars nicely.

Black, gluggy, brown foam. Huge maple hit, some coffee nearing pepper underneath. Thick and nicely soft. Taste is heavy on the maple, with some warming boozyness. Some light coffee balances out. Subtle barrel.

On tap at Mikkeller San Diego, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is dominated by the maple syrup upfront, with coffee and subdued brandy. Flavour is along the same lines, with intensely decadent maple syrup, followed by coffee and a touch of spirit barrels. A maple syrup bomb that simply owns. Lovely.
