Tap at the Crafty Taproom, Marlow. Poured almost black, with a short-lived, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, toffee, fudge, vanilla. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liqourice bitter, with a smooth, roasty, cacao, fudgy, light floral, vanilla, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Black beer, can pours with a very thick tan head. Smells of caramel, a little burnt sugar. Flavour has the burnt sugar again, caramel, vanilla, sweet malt. There's lactose in here too and too much of it, unfortunately. Doesn't ruin it but stops what might have been a really nice stout from being more than okay. Not bad but unbalanced and far from the brewery's excellent best.
