Sample bottle opened with a pop - just like the one I had with aronia by this meadery. As that was one of the least ones by them, I fear it might be a quality problem that occures with unwanted refermentation in the sample flasks. Anyway. This one is noticable darker than the fresh flower verion; showing a fairly dark ocergold, clear color. Scent is way milder on both honey and floral aspects. Tad sharp, but overal very silent. Taste is sharp, mild tartness. Full aroma by the berries more than the flower, but still not very elder-typical. Carbonated (due to refermentation in the sample bottle ? ) Decent, but forgeteable. less honey forward than others by them (makes sence if it fermented some of these sugars) . Not off, in terms of flavors. just less specific or nice than others by this meadery.
