REVIVING THE REIGN OF PORTER
1926 was a special year for Great Britain - a certain Princess Elizabeth was born. On the occasion of her 90th birthday, we went back through our old brew books to find a recipe from her birth year - and we found a Porter fit for a Queen

Pours pitch black, topped with a very thin and nonlasting tan head. Nice chocolate with vanilla aroma, a bit woody, some alcohol notes. Silky body, fairly full. Moderate chocolate, vanilla sweetness. Medium bitterness. Quite a lot of alcohol warmth with whisky feel. A bit too boozy and strong, but still pretty nice.

Bottle. Brownish black with a decent beige/white head. Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malts with hints of coffee and some hops. Slightly vinous. Taste is malts, dark fruits, some dark chocolate, a bit of coffee and some hints of tobacco and ashes. Moderately bitter and tart. Low to medium carbonation. Balanced and nice but I just expect more from Fuller's - as unfair as that may be.

Palate - Soft carb, medium body but a bit thin for an oatmeal porter, improved with swirling to reduce the carb. Finish is a bit dry, soft bitter roast, dab of alcohol
