Ebony. Some pale brown head. Fine aroma and taste of dark chocolate, freshly roasted coffee, roasted malt, a slight hint of liquorice and very moderate hop bitterness. Smooth drinkability. Appropriately uncarbonated. From cask at The Bell & Dog, Deptford, London, on a live folk music night Wednesday 19.01.22.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish brown with minimal cream head. Aroma has chocolate and nuts. In the mouth the texture is a bit watery. Flavour has dark fruits and chocolate with hints of fudge and coffee. Finish majors on fruit. A nice pleasant stout.

Cask at Reading BF. Black with a beige head. Toffee, treacle and chocolate with a light toasty note. It's fine. But not very exciting.
