Beer #2 (of 19) of my 9000th Beer Celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] Crisp copper, bronze and light brown coloured body with a smooth, fairly thin and single centimetre tall just off-white head that fades pretty quickly, but leaves a thin layer on top of the clear glowing beer - nice. Aroma of very strong and defined maple syrup, lactose, bretty, lactobilly and funky spontaneously fermented yeasts with a lot of sour foeder notes along with some apples and woodsie notes, but the maple defines this in the nose, for sure. Light to Medium-bodied; Very crisp and drying maple flavour with some light spruce and pine elements that make this even drier, but the maple really shows maple candy and butter notes that are sweet but purely maple and a bit removed from the sweet elements of the latter, but the yeasts and soured, funky notes define the finish here in a great, complex way that really bring out the floral, grassy and cedar-like notes from the foeders themselves. Aftertaste shows the oak aging in terms of complexity, dryness and yeast profile, but the tart and soured notes are sort of a surprise, as are the spontaneously fermented yeasts which are the two strongest parts of this on the end, but the good flavours throughout make this very interesting and well worth trying to find! Overall, a great beer that was well worth saving for a special occasion, perhaps because I like maple so much, but because of the complexity, balance and range that was struck with this one, even at less than 6 per cent alcohol, this came out great! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah, Georgia on 04-May-2018 for US$3,25 (Abercorn Street) sampled at my house back up here in Washington on 07-September-2021, as Beer #2 (of 19) of my 9000th beer celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself].

Just a quick taster before ordering. Medium sourness with some sweetness. Thin and fairly light. Spruce adds weird cleaning taste, whilst maple adds sticky sweetness. Something different. Weird combination that's not very pleasant to me. Didn't order.

Sample at the 6th Annual Craft Beer Festival by The Community Tap on 04/21/2018. Clear amber color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes gradually to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Aroma of maple, tart fruit and yeast. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet maple, tart fruit, spruce and yeast. The finish is sweet and tart with maple and yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours a dark amber from a tap. Big maple aroma and flavor, light tartness. Not much spruce that I’m picking up. Pretty good beer.
