Sample (thanks omhper!). Copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is nectary, some slight spruce, alcohol, some toffee and mild wooden notes. Flavour is wood, spruce, some alcohol and mild dried fruity tones. Plum and mild booziness in aftertaste. This one would win on being aged I think...

Swing top bottle 33 cl. ours a cloudy, opaque brown with a small, beige head. Toffee, caramel, biscuit and overripe fruit in the nose, slightly greasy hops - British I bet. Rich, malty body, flavors as above, very British in style. It's kinda primitive yet vey authentic for a British Barley Wine. Absolutely no hop aroma, but a solid hop bittering finish. Not a pretty beer, but at least not infected as I remember Qvänum in the early years. 130622

Fliptop, huge thanks P for sharing with J & me! Amber-brown body, traces of an off-white head. Creamy, jammy, caramelly, some light alcohol. Lean, dry, bitter taste, raisins, roast, aggressive as all hell, a bit flowery, vaguely soapy... very pleasant dried fruit notes, and then beaten to a pulp with roasty, peppery bitterness. Another rollercoaster, which I actually don't actively dislike. It's fantastic and bad at the same time!

Bottle from Systembolaget beställningssortiment. Brownish/amber with a small head. A bit sweet with dried fruit, brown sugar, toffee, chocolate and grain. Some warming notes in the finish.

Flaska från SB. Mahognyfärgad aningen disig vätska med lågt skum. Doft av dadlar, mörkt socker, anis. Stor kropp men förvånansvärt lättdrucken. Stora generösa smaker, torkad frukt, fikon, dalar, söta äpplen, anis, pepprig råg, russin. Mycket gott. Snygg komplex och välbalanserad BW.

ABV: 10.6%. Clear medium to dark brown - red amber colour with a small to average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sweet malt, dried fruit, fudge, rich, malty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average to long duration, dried fruit, apricot marmalade - dates, sweet malt, caramel, rich, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20211030]

--Bottled, from Systembolaget. -- Hazy mahogany colour, small head. Aroma of dates, licorice, brown sugar and grain. Mid sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Spicy hay, ripe apples, raisins and grain. Peppery warming mid bitter finish. Complex and charming, Qvänum style.
