This beer is a tribute to this over the top zombie series. And just like the series, we went crazy on this beer.
Black Rainbow is a biological weapon of mass destruction. It's a fourth strike weapon meant to kill anything left after an all out nuclear war.
We took the " when three strikes aren't enough" litterally and made a quadruple mash quadrupel with 4 mashes. 4 times as mush as normal. The result is a full bodied quad with loads of malt character.

Taster, lci. Good balance between malts and toasted flavors. Well done... 4 mashes isn't easy and a lot of work. Great... Brew this again Kevin. 😉

Appearance - 7 | Aroma - 7.5 | Flavor - 7.5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5
Pours very dark brown - yet not totally black. Small , nearly no head. Scent is grainy, deep and wide . Mild roast (dark, not black malts). no hoparoma, no yeastaroma. Taste is thick, loads of maltyness, obviously. Soy sauce. Very restrained bitterness. Medium intense to intense sweetness. Dark chocolate. Doesn't have the typical fruity esthers of a quad, so I'd call this more of a Belgian Dark Strong Ale myself - but of course those are details. Strong maltyness, fairly thick and sweet - kinda sums it up. Just maybe, a hint of an additive could provide a more complex profile - like a whiff of vanilla, for instance. Yet Kevin (Malcroys) is all about 100% Natural. Anyway, the body presented here is something to chace in future imperial-style beers to come !
