28 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, 77ships & tderoeck! Hazy amber, lasting, thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of oak, almond, red grapes, lemon peel, vinegar. Taste is light funky sour, vinegar & lemon acid next to red grapes, sweetish as such, woody bitter tones give a vanilla-like effect, the undercurrent is bready, caramelly, even brioche-like. Dryish, tart finish, more lemon peel & vinegar, faint varnish retronasally, enforcing a rather strong liqueur-like alcohol effect. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Reasonable attempt at making an oak-based beer but it doesn’t fully manifest itself.
