JavaHead is like a day at Tröegs; it’s hard to tell where the coffee ends and the beer begins. This creamy oatmeal stout is infused with locally roasted, cold steeped coffee through our HopBack vessel releasing subtle hints of cocoa, roasted nuts and dark mocha.

Nice coffee smell, though not overwhelming in taste.

Bottle from City Swiggers, New York, NY. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Coffee, malty aroma. Tastes similar, coffee, malty, hint of chocolate, slight bitterness. Decent stout.

Drought. Pours dark brown with small foamy beige head, coffee beans aroma, low carbonation, sweetish coffee taste, long finish. The sweet taste is a bit too strong.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was black in color with some nice light brown tinges around the edges. There was a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated into the darkness of the beer. The lacing that was there was light and stringy.
The smell was roasty and had a nice element of bitter coffee and a decent layer of oatmeal balancing it all out. It kinda smells very similar to their Dead Reckoning. No worries as that’s just as good a beer if anything.
The taste was sweet, bitter and roasty all blending well and leads into a very dry coffee and slightly oatmeal-like aftertaste. There was a dry sweet finish.
On the palate, it sat about a medium in body with a quality that wants to be sessionable but isn’t as much as one may want. The carbonation is smooth and rolls over my mouth and tongue very nicely.
Overeall, I say this is a good oatmeal stout well worthy of having again.

Nicely balanced Java stout here. Pours black with decent head and lacing. Espresso prominent but not overdone. Does hide the roasty, stout elements I usually enjoy. Finishes bitter coffee-like. Soft carbonation. Bottle.

Bottle from bottleselect.com. Pours dark brown/black with a slight tan head. Aroma is espresso. Med body or slightly better. Flavor is coffee. Even a little like sucking on a coffee bean. There’s very dark malt. There are indications of hop. But it’s mainly about a very firm coffee - start to finish. Very nicely done.
