On tap at the Mad Mex. Smell is sweet. Big bitter initial taste. Oily soapy palate. Just a tad of CO2. Long terrible bitter hop linger. Not enjoyable for a lager lover but certainly on style. However, I have tasted some IPA that reach this level of brutalness.

Bottle 22fl.oz.Light unclear medium to dark orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel fruity, moderate to heavy hoppy, spruce, resin, orange, fruity. Flavor is moderate to heavy fruity sweet and peel bitter with a long duration, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091203]

Location: 22 oz bottle from Whole Foods - Bowery, 10/31/09
Aroma: A nice, but light citrus aroma, some other fruits and grass as well
Appearance: Pours a dark orange, almost amberish, color with a thin white head
Flavor: More malty and less hoppy then the style usually is, but it has a nice taste it
Palate: This one has a pretty decent mouthfeel with a medium body and a bit of an ABV bite.
Overall Impression: This was a pretty decent beer, but it didn't quite live up to what I wanted from this beer and this style. I'm not saying it was bad, but it wasn't quite up to my expected level.

Bottle, bought @ De Bierkoning. Orange blonde color, tiny chunks of yeast floating. Melon, pineapple, mango and oily hops in the aroma. Firm oily earthy hopbitter flavor, pushing away fruity notes, like pineapple and mango. Alcoholic. Earthy bitter aftertaste with red berries. Typical American DIPA.

Draught (Oliver Twist, Stockholm) - Amber/copper in colour. hoppy and fruity aroma with grapefruit, raisins and caramel. Hoppy and fruity taste with tangy grapefruit and pine featuring prominently.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. On July 5, 2009Slight hazy copper color, fluffy but not very creamy off-white head. Creamy, hoppy, fruity, alcohol, malty, taste. Warming gut alcohol feeling. Fruity and a bit acidic scent, some red berries. Medium to smooth mouthfeel. Medium high bitterness.

Small off-white head over hazy orange-amber beer. Oxydized, cookie malts; hops turning cheesy, cat’s pee. Pretty bitter, hoppy over oxydized maltbase, lytchee. Nice all the same, as the balance is there, the malts not auspicious but balancing the hopload. Sorry that the sample had obviously some age, but the remainder proved well enough. Big thanks to CK!

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of toasty grain, caramel, toffee and citrus. Malty, fruity taste with with initial flavours of caramel, toasty malt and citrus. After a couple of seconds on the palate a hoppy, earthy bitterness comes through in waves. Slightly above medium body, on the sweet side. Starts malty, turns hoppy and bitter towards the end. More emphasis on bitterness than aroma hops. Very nice beer.

22 oz. bottle, traded Mar 2007 from kramer. Deep brownish amber with a few "lily pads" of bubbles. Beer has cellared at least 2 years since I got it, so malt smell has gotten deep, but not like syrup. Hops are still very much in the first taste. Big bitterness, still with plenty ofpine resin and a backing of pineapple. Nicely prickly on the tongue. Alcohol build nice and slowly. This one holds up to cellaring pretty well.
