Bottle from Beers of Europe, online. Pours dark brown with small beige head, nice consistent retention. Aroma of roasted malts, coriander, chocolate, burnt wood, citrus peel. An odd combination - this could be awful, great or somewhere in the middle! Taste turns out to be on the excellent side! Taste has a roast and charcoal start followed by an orange citrus to offset and give it fruitiness, followed by coriander and chocolate moreish middle, finish has a combination of aforementioned, light fruity tang and smoke. Moderate bitterness throughout. Near medium bodied, fairly smooth, works well for a 4.5% porter. Wow excellent stuff, I love it when a beer far outshines expectation.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Appearance - deep brown with red chinks and a half fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate and orange very obvious. Coffee and toffee too. And coriander seed because you know to look for it. Taste - coffee, dark chocolate, orange and nice smokiness coming at the end. Palate - medium bodied, creamy texture. Dry, smoky finish. Overall - quite like this.
