Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - very gentle carbonation on opening. Opaque black with a fawn head. Nose - smoke, tar and molasses. Taste - molasses, black olives, nuts and light raisins. Smoke again. Palate - close to medium bodied but very dry and tangy. Almost a sour edge. Overall - challenging but interesting.

500ml bottle: BB May 2018. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 16th Feb 2018. Very dark brown body, full tanned topping. Smoky, peaty aroma, dark chocolate and burnt nuts in the flavour. The Rye comes through too, giving an extra dimension to the beer. Sadly there is also a semi-sour and cobweb feel to the brew, like it's 'on the turn'. Imagine your best mates 'home brew', he loves it, you haven't the heart to tell him it's not that great; that's where this bottle is!

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear dark red-brown with a thin beige head.Aromas of of smoke, charcoal, light chocolate. Taste brings the spice, more smoky embers of a fire, light cooked stone fruit. Spice lingers nicely.
