Cask at the City Arms, Cardiff. Pours dark orange with a small head. Aroma is sulphur, bready malt and raisin. Taste is bready malt throughout with a bitter finish. Touch of toffee.

Part of the breweries ’World Leaders’ series: this one is an IPA using Progress hops and Optic malt. I’ve had a gravity poured half-pint at a Beer Festival (17 Aug 2013) and a hand-pulled half-pint in Ye Olde Robin Hood, a Holden’s owned pub in Ironbridge today (19 Aug 2013). Good golden hue to the yellow, bright body, steady white crown on both beers. Hop domination in the dry taste and cereal nose: fairly bitter and intense dryness towards the end of each sip. Body depth was fine and the beer although more hoppy than malty was a well thought out blend of flavours and completely different to the regular beers that Holdens brew.
