IPA, or India Pale Ale was born in England in the 18th century when there was a need to send beer to British soldiers in India. The beer that was produced in Britain in those days would not have survived a six-month journey from Britain to India, so a special strong, heavily hopped beer was created. A. Le Coq IPA is a pale ale with strong hoppy flavour that has been brewed with Chinook, Amarillo, Cascade and Citra hops that add bitterness to the beer.

Can, 0.50, courtesy of ex co-workers. Pours clear golden color with large soapy white head, nice lacing and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of pine, herbs, cereals and dust. Taste starts malt malty, following is fruity, grassy and a bit papery, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Quite lager-like ale, but not bad at all...

Clear golden color with a fine white head. Nice hoppy aroma with an ok intensity. Medium body and an average carbonation. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Citric/grapefruit hoppy, fruity and a fine malty back. Some perfumed notes.

Canned 500ml. -at Pivoteka Zagreb. Pale golden coloured, small white head, raw hops in the nose. Sweet malty, perfumed grassy hoppy, notes of fruits and touch of honey with bitter sweet notes in the finish. Almost candy like sweetness. Nope.

Pours a clear golden color, topped witha medium off-white head, pretty lasting. Fruity hoppy aroma with some chalky feel to it. Medium bitterness with some slight fruitiness present. A bit metallic aftertaste but just. Light. Not bad at all.

Can. Pours dark golden with whiteish head. The head stays. Aroma is weird, metallic, hay, green pepper, some sweetness. Flavor is sweet and bitter, some weird herbs, caramel, more green pepper, slight citrus. Finish is dry, peppery and metallic. Overall: not good, but more just weird than horror tick.

Pours a clear golden color with medium, short lasting white head. Smell is fruits, hops and some weird off-notes... Cardboard? Hm. Anyways. Thin body with high carbonation and watery texture. Taste is mostly bitter, but feels a bit artificial. Aroma is a bit empty, some hops and malts, a bit metallic.. Short and dry finish. Overall, mediocre and watered down IPA.

500ml Can (as Cesu IPA) - Amber with a foamy head. Peach, grapefruit, and some hnts of dms in the aroma. Grassy, hoppy and vegetal taste with some citrussy notes from the hops competing against some dms.

Pours clear amber, finger-thick foam that is gone quite soon. Aroma is actually quite hoppy, flowery and sort of feels like smelling hop pellets, pungent and powerful, not too fragrant. I wonder if they used pellets - or probably some extract because that’s cheaper. Body is thin, missing ale-like fruitiness, so this reminds me a bit more IPL than IPA. Taste sort of goes downhill, some artificial feeling perfume in it, body too weak to stand against this pellet pungency. No aftertaste and no lingering hops, just clear cut finish. Which makes me think of hop extracts again for some reason. Overall, yep, I can drink it and even enjoying it in some ways. Probably better than some industrial brewery crafty IPA experiments I have tried in Japan, still has a to to improve.
